THE DARKNESS is a US supernatural horror in which a family are threatened in their home by demonic spirits.

Threat

There is strong supernatural threat throughout, including attacks on children as hands reach out of a wall, a girl being attacked in bed by a dog, and a girl being attacked by an unseen spirit which leaves her covered in black handprints. A boy is also attacked by an unseen spirit, which causes him to dribble black slime.

The film contains a prolonged exorcism scene to cleanse the house, during which adults and children are threatened by the demonic spirits.

There is infrequent strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder bad language (for example, 'piss', 'ass', 'screwed up', 'fricking', 'crappy', 'shit', 'jerk', 'goddamn', 'moron' and 'hell').
