DARK PLACES is a US thriller about a woman who witnessed the murder of her family when she was a child and 25 years later re-examines the evidence to find out what really happened.

Language

One use of very strong language ('c**t'). There is also frequent use of strong language ('f**k').

Violence

Strong violence includes a woman being stabbed with a large knife, people, including a child, being shot with a shotgun, a girl being strangled, and a group of teenagers slaughtering cattle using axes and knives as part of a Satanic ritual.

Drugs

Teenagers smoke marijuana and snort a powder they refer to as 'Devil's Rush' which appears to increase their aggression.

Theme

There are references to child abuse, with a character accused of molesting several young girls as part of Satanic rituals. One of the alleged victims speaks as an adult about her experiences, saying, "he made me perform oral sex on him".

Further issues include teenagers kissing on a bed with the suggestion they are about to have sex, and a scene in a strip club in which a woman pole-dances in the background with her back to camera.
