THE DAM BUSTERS is a British war film, from 1955, in which British forces plan and execute a daring attack on Germany's Ruhr Dams during World War II.

Discrimination

One of the main characters owns a dog called 'Nigger'. The dog's name is spoken a number of times, without any apparent racist intent, and reflects cultural attitudes of the time that would be unacceptable today. It also reflects the actual name of the real-life mascot of 617 Squadron during World War II.

Language

There is infrequent mild bad language ('bloody') alongside milder terms such as 'damn', 'hell' and 'God'.

There is undetailed war violence, including gunfire, explosions and planes crashing.

A dog is hit by a car, but there is no visual detail.

There are also several scenes in which characters smoke cigarettes.
