CHOKE is a US ensemble comedy drama based on a Chuck Palahniuk novel. It tells the story of a young con man and sex addict’s attempt to stay clean and find out the identity of his real father. It was classified ‘18’ for strong sex and sex references.

At '18' the BBFC's Guideline concerns will not normally override the wish that adults should be free to chose their own entertainment, within the law. The film contains a number of strong casual sex scenes, including partial nudity, but none of which contain explicit detail. The strongest of these is a negotiated casual encounter in which a woman asks the central character to play the part of a ‘faceless masked’ rapist who pretends to attack her with a knife. The intent of the scene is comic and the viewer is never in any doubt that the encounter is a consensual game. Often in the context of the character's sex addiction, the work also contains many strong verbal references. Some of these accompany the sex scenes.

In addition to the sexual material, CHOKE contains over 25 uses of strong language.
