THE CABIN IN THE WOODS

THE CABIN IN THE WOODS is a horror film about a group of college students who take a break in a remote cabin where they become unwitting participants in a mind games experiment. The film was classified '15' for strong gore, bloody violence, language and soft drug use.

There are frequent scenes of strong bloody violence, including sight of stabbings in the torso and neck, an impaling, an implied beheading and a woman shooting herself in the head, all of which are accompanied by large but brief blood splashes. One scene shows monsters attacking humans in a variety of ways, resulting in sight of blood and gore. Although the sequence is prolonged, the context is fantastical and any sight of gore and blood is relatively brief. The Guidelines at '15' state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury'.

There are multiple uses of strong language. The Guidelines at '15' state 'There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, 'fuck')'. In terms of soft drug use, one of the characters is seen smoking marijuana regularly, either in the form of joints or by using a bong. However, other characters dismiss his habit. The Guidelines at '15' state 'Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse'.

THE CABIN IN THE WOODS also contains one sex scene in which a man removes a woman's trousers, after which he bites at her knickers and nuzzles her abdomen. Her pleasurable reaction suggests that oral sex may be taking place but nothing of this is shown on screen and she is next seen topless sitting astride him.
