THE BREAK-UP is a romantic comedy set in Chicago about a couple who end their relationship, but neither Brooke nor Gary is willing to move out of their shared apartment.

Language

One use of strong language (‘f**king’) is heard in a row between Brooke and Gary, but it is uttered more in sorrow than in anger. Other language includes uses of ‘prick’, ‘asshole’ and ‘shit’.

Sex

Dialogue includes regular use of innuendo, references to people ‘sleeping with’, ‘getting laid’ or ‘touching up’ each other, plus occasionally more direct comments such as ‘your brother is a pervert’, and Gary telling Brooke that her sister has been ‘through a lot of dick’. Gary’s insensitive brother also makes various blunt remarks such as ‘You should find someone who looks as hot as Brooke and bang the shit out of her’.

There is some mild nudity (male and female buttock shots) and a blurry image of the back of a topless dancer with very brief sight of part of her breast seen in profile. Brief mild violence is seen during a couple of video games shown on a small TV screen, and in some slapstick style fighting between two men.
