THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM is the third instalment in the series about international espionage, based on the novels by Robert Ludlum. It was classified '12A' for moderate violence.

At '12A' the BBFC's Guidelines state that 'Violence must not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood'. The film contains a few sequences of moderate violence in which Bourne fights against people who are trying to capture or kill him. In most cases he uses violence to disarm and knock out his adversaries rather than to kill them. Although the violence is sometimes impactful, it is lacking in detail and the blows themselves are not generally seen landing. The violence is also being performed for a specific reason rather than with any sadistic intent. In one scene we see a man being shot, resulting in a spray of blood. However, the shot is extremely brief and seen from a distance. The level of violence is comparable to that shown in the two previous films in the series, both of which were classified '12A'.

The film also contains mild language and some tense chase sequences.
