THE BOURNE LEGACY is the fourth film in the series of action thrillers based on Robert Ludlum's Matthew Bourne novels. It was classified 12A for moderate violence.

There are a number of scenes of moderate violence, which generally occur during fast-paced fights or shoot-outs. Although there are heavy blows and some bullet impacts, little is shown in terms of injury detail, with the focus instead placed on action and drama or the abilities of the characters involved. For example, during a sequence in which the main character fights three security guards, the editing emphasises the brutal speed of his martial arts skills more than any pain he inflicts. Similarly, during another scene in which a man starts shooting and killing the people who work with him, the emphasis is on the fear his colleagues experience and the strong sense of threat rather than on bloody bullet impacts.

The film also contains mild bad language, including uses of 'ass', 'hell', 'Jesus', 'screwed' and 'shit'.
