BODYGUARD is a subtitled Hindi drama about the relationship between a bodyguard and the young woman he has to protect. The film was classified '12A' for moderate action violence.
The BBFC's Guidelines at '12A'/'12' state 'Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context'. The film contains four fight sequences, each featuring moderate action violence. The violence is presented as extremely fantastical and unrealistic in nature with the hero managing to fight and kill many men single-handedly, often with exaggerated sound effects. There are a number of crunchy blows and kicks, including a few implied arm and leg breaks, but no detail is shown. There is a stabbing of a villain but this is only indicated by subsequent sight of a knife with a little blood on it. Another stabbing is seen in which a knife is withdrawn from a man's stomach, resulting in a brief blood spurt. A shot to a man's leg also results in a brief blood spurt and a few drops of blood landing on the camera lens. Finally, a man is flung against the wall and impaled on something sharp, which kills him, but no detail is shown.
The film also contains a scene in which we see a number of young women locked in a container. They are due to be sold in Thailand, with an oblique reference being made to sex trafficking. However, the women are soon rescued and come to no harm. There are two uses of mild language ('bloody').
