THE BINDING is a US drama in which a family is threatened when the father believes that God has instructed him to kill his own daughter.

Threat

A character has ominous dreams: one is of a bloody baby, another is of facial disfigurement. A woman is threatened by the strange behaviour of her husband: investigating a sound at night, she finds him beating his head against a wall, resulting in bloody detail. The threat is sometimes supernatural in nature and the overall tone of the film is bleak.

Violence

A husband beats his wife heavily, including with a kick to the face, leaving her bloody, cut and bruised.

There is a brief scene of suicide by gunshot, but without strong detail.

There is infrequent use of strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder terms such as 'bitchy'.

There are references to miscarriage.

There is a brief, bloody image of a stab wound.
