BENVENUTO CELLINI is a recording of an English National Opera production of Berlioz's opera about the celebrated 16th century goldsmith and sculptor, Benvenuto Cellini.
Sex references include a scene in which an actor waves a huge cucumber 'phallus' between his legs. Other characters straddle each other and make thrusting movements, but they are clothed. There are references to 'tarts and courtesans' as women dressed as prostitutes enter a bar.
A man is stabbed with a sword and killed. The impact is not shown, but there is blood on his hands and clothing, as well as on those of his assailant.
Very mild bad language includes uses of 'ass', 'hell' and 'damn'. There are also references, both verbal and visual, to hanging.
