BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY is a first-person shooter for the Xbox 360 console in which a squad of four renegade soldiers engage various enemy troops in Russian territory as they attempt to enrich themselves in a search for some stolen gold. This version of the game contains bonus video extras including a multiplayer tutorial, multiplayer strategy tips and a 'behind the scenes' look at how the game was produced. The main game was classified '15' for frequent moderate battle violence and the bonus extras presented no additional issues.

The frequent moderate battle violence occurs in skirmishes with enemies that see the use of various weapons (automatic rifles, grenade launchers and other explosive devices) to eliminate them. The injury detail that results from such firepower in generalised battle encounters is, however, quite discreet and there is nothing that resembles realistic bloodshed on bodies or the locations of the various missions. No post-mortem injury can be inflicted on dead enemies whose bodies disappear soon after being killed and even in more personalised melee combat, when the player character can use a knife on opponents, this is depicted only as a slashing motion with no sight of injury being inflicted. The nature of such violence may have met the requirements of the BBFC's Guidelines at the '12' category that 'violence must not dwell on detail [and] there should be no emphasis on injuries or blood', while the tone of the game is lightened considerably by the comic banter between characters and a tongue-in-cheek approach to the action. But the emphasis on combat and the elimination of enemies in order to progress through the game comes with few alternatives and little respite in the form of problem-solving elements, and so the impact of the moderate violence has a cumulative effect that was felt to be more appropriately placed at '15'.

The game also contains mild-to-moderate language throughout with uses of ‘Christ’, ‘damn’, ‘hell’, ‘goddam’, ‘bum’, ‘crap’, ‘shit’, ‘screw up’, ‘ass’ and ‘tits'.
