ASSASSIN'S CREED REVELATIONS, the fourth game in the ASSASSIN'S CREED franchise, is a mission-led, stealth 'n' strategy, hack 'n' slash, action-adventure game played from the 3rd person perspective. Set in a large 'open world' environment, the player again assumes the role of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the scion of a noble family and a skilled assassin. The majority of the game is set in Constantinople in the early 16th Century and the player finds him or herself battling against Knights Templars and Ottoman Janissaries with a view to recovering a powerful artifact from the depths of the Templar fortress. During the course of the game, Ezio interacts with a number of historical characters (eg Manuel Palaiologos and Suleiman the Magnificent). The game was classified '15' for strong violence and infrequent strong language.

The BBFC's Guidelines at '15' state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory moments are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable'. The game begins with Ezio imprisoned and about to be hanged by a group of Knights Templars. Although he is unarmed, Ezio escapes and soon acquires a pair of daggers (thereafter concealed within the sleeves of his tunic), as well as a sword. As the game progresses Ezio gains access to various other weapons, including swords, daggers, maces and a primitive firearm. He is also able to use his fists, knees and head, with head butts and neck breaks being available to the player. Striking opponents or innocent bystanders with bladed or blunt weapons results in blood spurts but no discernible injury detail. There are no decapitations or dismemberments permitted. The violence includes running opponents through with swords and throat cutting, with little detail. It is impossible to inflict post-mortem damage, although corpses can by picked up and dropped from high buildings and structures. During some kills, the camera zooms in and the finishing moves are seen in slow motion. That said, the game includes no very strong gory images. Although the player can kill innocent bystanders, including women, doing so three times results in the player being 'desynchronised' and finding him or herself back at the last save point.

The Guidelines at '15' also state 'There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, 'fuck')'. ASSASSIN'S CREED REVELATIONS includes two uses of strong language.
