THE ASSASSIN is a Mandarin language drama, set in ninth century China, about a female assassin who is ordered to kill a military governor.

Violence

Occasional scenes of moderate violence include characters fighting with swords and knives and being shot with arrows, and a very brief sequence in which a man's throat is cut. Sight of blood and injury detail is limited throughout.

There are infrequent verbal references to a woman faking her period using chicken blood.

Occasional scenes of mild threat include men attempting to bury another man in a shallow grave, and a supernatural sequence in which a cloud of smoke pushes a woman against a pillar.
