ANGELS & DEMONS (2009)

ANGELS & DEMONS is a thriller drama about attempts to stop a secret organisation from destroying the Papacy. This US version was passed '15' for scenes of strong violence, gory injury and horror.

These include the sight of a dead priest with a rat eating inside the corpse's mouth and eyes, a priest bleeding on the steps of the Vatican, blowing out blood from a chest wound, a crucified priest, screaming in pain over a fire as attempts are made to save him and a priest setting himself on fire. These exceed '12A/12' Guidelines which say that 'violence must not dwell on detail; and there should be no emphasis on injuries or blood although occasional gory moments' are allowed. Guidelines at '15' allow for 'strong threat and menace,unless sadistic. Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury, though the strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable.' This DVD version does not contain images among the strongest and lacks sadism. The sequence of branded dead or dying priests are seen after the majority of their injury has been inflicted and the focus is on attempts to save their lives.

There is also mild language. The mild language is infrequent and includes 'hell' and 'bastard'.
