AMERICAN HISTORY X is a drama about a former neo-Nazi skinhead who is released from prison and tries to prevent his younger brother from making the same mistakes as him.

Violence

In one scene a wounded man is murdered by being ordered to bite a roadside kerb and then another character stamps on the back of his unprotected head. Another character is shot at point blank range, with the bullet impact seen in slow motion, and blood running from the wound in his chest.

A naked man is attacked by several others in a prison shower, and it is implied he is brutally raped, before being left bleeding on the floor.

Language

The film contains frequent strong language ('f**k' and 'motherf**ker') together with frequent uses of racist terms including 'nigger', 'jungle bunny' and 'kike'.

A couple are seen having energetic sex together under bed sheets, with brief sight of breast nudity.
