ALEX CROSS is a US crime drama based on a novel by James Patterson. When Alex Cross, a police detective and psychologist, investigates a murder carried out by a sadistic killer nicknamed Picasso, he manages to predict where the murderer will strike next. A frustrated Picasso decides to target those closest to Cross and things start to get personal as the pair go all-out to destroy each other. The film is rated 15 for strong violence and threat.
The main scene of violence and threat establishes Picasso's nature as a sadistic killer. After seducing a woman and tying her to a bed for what appears to be consensual sex, Picasso injects the woman with a paralysing agent and proceeds to cut off her fingers. The cutting of the fingers occurs offscreen and the clippers are only shown to touch the woman's skin. A severed finger is briefly seen as it is dropped into a bowl but there is no visible blood and no focus on the woman's injuries.
ALEX CROSS also contains scenes in which characters are shot, although there is only minimal sight of blood in the aftermath of shootings. There is also a hand-to-hand fight scene featuring frequent punches and kicks, all accompanied by loud sound effects. Elsewhere, there is an overhead shot of a slightly bloodied man lying dead on the top of a car after he's fallen from a great height.
There are some verbal references to drugs and brief sight of some bags of cocaine during a drug bust.
The film also contains mild and moderate bad language, including uses of 'son of a bitch' and 'bitch'.
No-one younger than 15 may see a 15 rated film in the cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video or DVD.
