ACT OF VALOUR (2012)

ACT OF VALOR is an action thriller about an elite team of Navy SEALS who are sent on a special mission to extract a kidnapped CIA agent from Costa Rica. The film was classified '15' for strong violence, torture and strong language.

The film contains approximately ten uses of strong language. This exceeds the BBFC's Guidelines allowance at '12A'/'12' which requires that such language be infrequent.

The film contains strong violence including an early scene in which a CIA agent is shot at close range with a large blood splash on the wall behind him. Similar images are seen throughout, with brief execution style shootings in the head and further blood spurts from bullet impacts in the chest as special forces engage with villains. Other scenes of violence include the torture of a female CIA agent, with sight of a woman with a bloody face and swollen eye being punched in the face and implied drilling into the woman's bloody hands. Guidelines at '15' state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable'. While the film contains torture and bloody violence, much of this is brief or implied rather than detailed and the film avoids dwelling on the actual infliction of pain and injury.

The film also contains some mild sex references, for example, 'I tried to get them into bed'.
