A man is savaged by dogs which are set loose on him, but the most graphic details of the attack are obscured. Prisoners are beaten and whipped in undetailed fashion, and a man slaps a woman's face.
threat and horror
A scene of strong threat features a woman's terrified reaction as a fierce dog snarls in her face. There are also moderate threat which includes animals behaving in a sinister way, rocks being thrown through the window of a house and the reported disappearance of two young boys.
language
There is mild bad language ('bastard', 'son of a bitch'), as well as very mild terms ('damn').
discrimination
There is historical racism as Indigenous peoples and their customs are referred to in disparaging terms by Western colonial settlers. Discrimination is not endorsed by the work as a whole.

It is implied that a young girl makes a suicide attempt, and there are references to a man taking his own life with poison.
injury detail
There is sight of bloody wounds on the backs of prisoners who have been whipped off-screen as punishment for their crimes, and bloody detail on the face and clothing of the victim of a mauling by animals. As part of a mystical ritual, an incision is made in a man's corpse, which draws blood, and there is subsequent sight of a sheet of his skin draped over the chest of a young girl. There are also images of dead animals. A pregnant woman is alarmed when she find her belly covered in mysterious black blotches
