Further to our letter to all distributors of 13 December 2001 relating to the fee rebate, we advised that we would consider the Industry’s forecasts for 2002 and our fee structure and levels.
The volume of work processed by the BBFC has continued to rise in the first half of this year and we therefore submitted a proposal to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport for a revision to our fee structure. We are pleased to advise that the DCMS have approved our application to simplify our fee structure incorporating an average reduction of 12% for video classification.
In order to achieve uniformity in our tariff ruling, we have also reduced the film tariff by an average of 5%. A single tariff will apply to all material submitted on or after 1 July 2002.
The new tariff is based on a reduced standard rate. Concession and charity rates will apply at two thirds and 30% respectively of the new standard rate. Some miscellaneous fees have been sustained at the 1999 levels. Other additional concessions for secondary classifications and untranslated foreign language material made before 1970 have been withdrawn and these will now be charged at the revised concession rate.
This website contains full details of the new tariff in the submission process sections for customers.
