Required Submission of Cinema Advertisements

The BBFC and the Cinema Advertising Association have reached a revised agreement regarding the classification of cinema advertisements.

With effect from the 1st July 2002 the following principles will be applied in relation to the classification of advertisements for theatrical release:

All advertisements, regardless of time duration, must be submitted to the BBFC and the category symbol displayed on the print with the following exception:

Adverts previously transmitted on terrestrial or satellite TV which are less than 28 video seconds in duration and which do not advertise alcohol do not need to be submitted for classification.
