Education

The BBFC’s Education Department provides information and resources to assist students and teachers in learning about classification and regulation of film and video/DVD material in the UK.  Much of this information is accessed via two educational websites – cbbfc and sbbfc.  Cbbfc contains material directed towards younger children (approx. 8-14 year olds) with an emphasis on learning through fun activities.  Sbbfc features case studies, histories, podcasts, articles etc. that are designed to assist older students and teachers of film and media.

The BBFC Education Department also offer their services to educational institutions by providing speakers either through visits, video conferencing or monthly in-house Student Events.  Students are invited to attend a morning session with Examiners, held at the BBFC, 3 Soho Square, London, W1D 3HD.  Each Student Event will consist of a presentation by an Examiner illustrated with clips from relevant films and opportunities to ask questions.

All sessions begin at 11.00am and finish at 1.00pm.  We have to impose an upper limit of 35 places owing to restrictions on space.  Bookings will be strictly on a first come first served basis.  Specific questions relating to film or videos/DVDs should be submitted in advance, in writing.
