DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS - AWAKENING is an expansion pack for the DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS fantasy role-playing game, released on the PC and consoles. A new story-line and scenarios have been included. The game was classified ‘18’ for strong bloody violence.
The game includes bloody violence during numerous battles and cut scenes which show characters slashing enemies in the face, driving knives into their heads and similar. These attacks are accompanied by sight of spurting blood. If the player follows a certain story path they may also kill innocent characters in cold blood. At ‘15’ the BBFC Guidelines state that ‘violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable.’ In the case of DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS, it was felt that the violence shown did indeed dwell on the infliction of pain and injury.
The game also includes some moderate sex references, including a short cut scene in which villainous soldiers appear to be prepared to rape a dead woman because she's 'still warm', as well as slurs directed towards women such as calling them 'whores'. There are also sex scenes
