AASHAYEIN is a Hindi-language drama about Rahul, who wins a huge amount of money in the same week he discovers he has terminal cancer. He goes to a hospice, where his relationships with the other patients teach him the value of life. It was classified '12A' for moderate sex as well as the terminal illness theme.

The moderate sex scene takes place between Rahul and his fiancee. The focus is mainly on them kissing, then we see them in bed with a brief suggestion of him moving on top of her under the covers. There is no nudity shown. This is all in keeping with the BBFC's Guidelines at '12A'/'12' with state that 'sexual activity may be briefly and discreetly portrayed'.

The terminal illness theme is the main focus of the plot. The '12A'/'12' Guidelines state that 'mature themes are acceptable, but their treatment must be suitable for young teenagers'. In this film, while many of the characters are terminally ill and several of them die, in each case this is handled sensitively with no prolonged scenes of them suffering. Their friends are shown grieving for them but also being accepting of their deaths and learning how to cope.

This film also features a lot of cigarette smoking by the hero but when he is diagnosed with lung cancer, the doctor tells him the likely cause is his smoking. Over the course of the film he decides to stop altogether. Therefore, there is a very clear message about the potential dangers of smoking, suitable for younger teenagers. There are also several uses of mild bad language, including the words 'bastard', 'bitch', 'shit' and 'bloody'.
